Wellness Events

The Beating Burnout Club aims to host wellness events throughout the semester to encourage nursing students to take breaks, do non-nursing related activities, hang out and socialize and connect with upper year students! Here are a few pictures from our past events!

MIRROR PAINT NIGHT

Nursing school is notoriously stressful - there are so many strict labs, clinical expectations, and memorization-based courses that can chip away at your self-confidence. But it's okay and human to make mistakes - afterall we are always learning. It's important to see yourself in a different light - decorate your own mirror that serves as an external reminder that you are worthy of being here!

Beating Burnout is all about helping nursing students take their minds off of nursing school, and sometimes our club execs need a break too. Thanks to Elevate Yoga, the execs were able to stretch their limbs and relax their minds with a 1-hour long yoga session!

It's midterm season! To help nursing students relieve some stress, we hosted an event to enjoy a relaxing evening filled with snacks and hot-chocolate. We had some helpful study resources as well as the opportunity for upper-year nursing students to share their experiences and advice from their journey in nursing school!

Ending the hectic first week of school with a relaxing paint night under the night sky! This event was a huge success, featuring free healthy food options, resource bookmarks and affirmations, and a ton of paint and canvases. Thank you to all of those who dropped by to hang out with us, and shout out to the Undergraduate Nursing Student Association team for helping us with the event!

ELEVATE YOUR BODY!

The warmth of spring helps rejuvenate our physical energy. So, for the month of march, we wanted to highlight the importance of intentional and mindfulness in physical practice - whether it be weight lifting, yoga, a quick walk outside during lunch, giving your body the freedom to move around is so important to feeding the body-mind-spirit. We are so thankful to the Elevate Yoga club for their amazing yoga session.

It's almost Valentine's day - and that means showing love for people who you care for most! We created a space where students could write small messages on cards and send little self-care items to their significant others, friends, nurses or family members!

Final exam season is undoubtably stressful. Compounded by the cold and dark winter in Ottawa, it can feel difficult to study. This gingerbread decorating event was a small reminder that it's okay to take a break and have fun! Thank you to all the students who showed up!

Let your creative spark fly! Paint your own canvas tote bag, pouch or board with a variety of acrylic colours. Scroll through our gallery to see the amazing artistry of our nursing students at UO. We also created a collective affirmation board to inspire nursing students going through hard placements and crazy schedules!

Warm up with some hot chocolate and chill study vibes! As the days get longer, and the school work starts to pile up, it might beel much harder to do tasks that seemed easy just the other day. Pickup some wallet inspirational quotes, and munch on some smores with us!

Welcome all 101 weekers to a new semester of university!! This was our first outdoor event of the Fall 2022 semester, and the turnout was amazing! Students from various programs dropped by for some food and canvases and to chat about mental health issues.
